Paradigm® Wrestling Club

Paradigm® Wrestling Club is a premier wrestling training center based in Sugar Land, Texas, serving athletes from ages 4 through adulthood. Founded in 2009 by former collegiate wrestlers, the club was built on a simple belief: hard work beats talent, and wrestling proves it every day on the mat. As a USA Wrestling Charter Club, Paradigm® is committed to developing not just skilled wrestlers, but champions in life.

The club offers three core program tiers tailored to every stage of development. The Tots program introduces children ages 4–6 to the fundamentals of movement, balance, and body awareness in a fun, supportive environment. The Youth program serves school-age athletes, building competitive technique across folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco-Roman disciplines. The Adult program provides training for wrestlers 17 and older, from recreational practitioners to elite competitors chasing national titles.

Paradigm® is led by Head Coach Ruben Calderon, a two-time freestyle and two-time Greco state champion and Team USA World Sand Wrestling team member who placed fifth at the 2025 US Open National Championships. Program Director Reed Shelger, a former collegiate wrestler at UC Davis, founded the club in 2009 with a mission to inspire athletes to be champions in life through the discipline of wrestling. Assistant Coach Lelan Hernandez rounds out the staff, working closely with athletes across all program tiers to reinforce fundamentals and competitive technique.

Training takes place at the Paradigm® Combat Sports Training Center in Sugar Land, with sessions Monday through Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons. The club's athletes compete at the highest levels of youth wrestling in Texas, with recent 2025–26 Youth State Champions bringing home titles across folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco-Roman. Whether your goal is to earn a state championship, build confidence, or simply learn the sport, Paradigm® Wrestling Club provides the coaching, culture, and community to help every athlete succeed.
